The 5 year journey from student to multi-million dollar business

Chris Pescott is the founder and CEO of Perceptive, a marketing & research agency that he founded out of Massey University in 2005. In 2006 it picked up the Best Start-Up award at the Westpac Business Excellence Awards on the North Shore. The company then took off. In 2009 Perceptive was named the 24th Fastest Growing Business in New Zealand with revenue growth of over 230%. In that same year Chris was named a finalist in the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, and was pipped at the post by fellow "young gun" Derek Handley of The Hyperfactory - who later sold his company for an undisclosed sum (somewhere between US$50m and US$100m).

Today Perceptive is the largest independent market research company in New Zealand, and services clients in Australia, Hong Kong and Japan. From offices in Auckland's CBD, and on Auckland's North Shore Perceptive develops and shares marketing intelligence with over 700 marketers around the world, and boasts a client portfolio of over 100 well-known brands including Orcon, Dairy NZ, Mitsubishi, Westpac, SKY Television and Trade Me.

At the tender age of 30 Chris is just getting started, and is currently establishing connections with other Kiwis in offshore markets, with New York at the top of his list.

HoloDesk Interactive Display System

ICE AV will have on display an interactive HoloDesk system. Kevin Andreassend will explain how it can be used to help display digital content from DJ music applications through to corporate information such as PDF or videos.

We are planning on having both a projection based and a LCD based version so members to get some experience in understanding how touch interactive is becoming the next and latest trend from dance clubs, to shop windows to expo environments. During the Rugby World Cup we will be show casing the HoloDesk in The Cloud plus have units available for Auckland ICT display activities.

We may also be able to give a sneak preview of some our work we are doing with Thought Based Interactive Computing and gesture (touchless) motion interactive technologies we will implement in future versions of the HoloDesk.
