About Simon Fawkes

Simon Fawkes

Hi, my name is Simon Fawkes.  I help hi-tech companies grow faster in niche export markets through:
– hi-tech export coaching
– facilitation
– consulting: business planning, marketing strategies and exporting,

As an Accredited Mindshop Facilitator I am able to draw on a wealth of practical business tools and tap into a global network of business advisers.

I have an unusual background, being a linguist with fluent German and French as well as a “reformed engineer”. My early career was as a structural engineer with Ove Arup in the UK. I then moved to New Zealand with Beca, where I specialised in project management.  Feeling there was more to life than being an engineer, I took the plunge for the (more than) full-time MBA at Otago and then worked as a financial management consultant with Ernst & Young.

My appointment as New Zealand Trade Commissioner in Hamburg was the catalyst to a mid-career change to international marketing.  I have worked in a number of marketing and business development roles for technology companies.  With Wellington Drive Technologies, Aeroqual and Loadrite most of my efforts were devoted to investigating international markets and forming new business relationships in Europe in the industrial electronics sector. I also developed a staged process for Truescape Visual Reality to assess potential locations for its first international office.

I now specialise in helping technology companies grow internationally. Over the last three years I have  worked closely with Senztek, one of the winners of the inaugural Auckland Business School Entrepreneurs’ Challenge, and Multifit to develop export markets in the UK, Europe, Australia and North America in the smart energy management and rehab sectors respectively.

My other role is part-time cluster facilitator of Auckland ICT. I have played a key role in the growth of the cluster from 20 to over 80 member companies over the last six  years.

I have an MA in Engineering and Modern Languages from Cambridge University in England and an MBA from Otago University. I am a member of the Institution of Professional Engineers, New Zealand (MIPENZ) and an Accredited  Mindshop Facilitator.

  1. Hi Simon
Looking good. In the report I am sending for your http://www.b2m.co.nz web site there are a range of links you should also add to this blog site. They have a relevancy to your export consulting expertise and I am sure will be of interest to your visitors. Also another aspect that makes them important to add is that the search engines see relevancy in a contextural sense and therefore contribute to a higher ranking.

Also for each of the page and posts you have created
add a key word at least 3 times. So About should become About Simon Fawkes and then intro should read.
My name is Simon Fawkes. …….. etc
At the bottom of the About page place add

    Simon Fawkes
    International Export Consult
    Business 2 Markets
    http://www.b2m.co.nz

I would also mention your specific German language capability
    Regards
    Kevin
